Who It's For

Who This Is Built For

Built for immigration attorneys preparing clients for an affirmative asylum interview at USCIS. Especially useful where the claim turns on credibility, where the client's first language is not English, where timeline or factual complexity will be stress-tested, or where prior preparation hasn't replicated the actual interview environment.

The Engagement

What's Included

Professional Responsibility

Confidentiality and Case Materials

Every engagement begins with a signed engagement letter and confidentiality agreement before any case materials are shared. Case materials are handled under attorney-client privilege protocols, transmitted through secure channels, and deleted after the engagement is complete. BiyteLüm carries professional errors and omissions insurance on the U.S. entity.

The Distinction

Why This Is Different

How It Works

From First Contact to Debrief

1

Initial Contact

Standard rate clients book a free 20-minute Case Fit Call to discuss the case and confirm fit. Nonprofit and Clinic rate clients email hello@biytelum.com with eligibility documentation to begin the verification process.

2

Engagement Letter and Confidentiality Agreement

Once case fit is confirmed, an engagement letter setting scope, fee, and confidentiality terms is sent for signature before any case materials are exchanged.

3

Case Materials Submission

After the engagement letter is signed, you'll receive a secure intake link to submit the case file, declaration, country conditions evidence, and the scheduled USCIS interview date.

4

Pre-Session Note

A brief note flagging anticipated areas of focus is sent 24–48 hours before the mock session.

5

Mock Interview

60–90 minutes conducted via video in the language of your choice.

6

Debrief Memo

The written attorney debrief memo is delivered within 48 hours of the session.

Common Questions

FAQs

How quickly can a session be booked?

The fit call is typically available within 48 hours. Standard scheduling for the mock session is 7–10 days out from the fit call. Rush availability within 3 business days is sometimes possible at a 25% surcharge, reach out to confirm.

What does the case fit call cover?

A 20-minute conversation about your client's case, the upcoming USCIS asylum interview, and whether mock prep is the right fit. If it is, you'll receive an engagement letter to review and sign, followed by the booking link to schedule the actual session.

How does 60–90 minutes compare to the actual interview length?

Real USCIS asylum interviews can run several hours, with complex cases reaching 3–5 hours or more. This mock is designed as focused preparation, not a duration simulation, it concentrates on the credibility-testing and persecution-story segments where preparation makes the biggest difference for most cases. For complex matters where extended simulation is warranted, longer sessions can be arranged on a case-by-case basis.

Why is an engagement letter required?

Asylum cases involve highly sensitive applicant information protected by attorney-client privilege. An engagement letter and confidentiality agreement set the scope of work, terms of confidentiality, and handling of case materials before any materials are exchanged. This protects you, your client, and the engagement.

What's in the debrief memo?

Specific credibility issues that surfaced during the mock, patterns of vagueness or inconsistency, areas to address before the real interview, and recommended prep focus. The memo is written for the attorney, not the client.

Can attorneys observe the mock interview?

Yes. Attorneys are welcome to observe via the video session. Observation does not affect how the mock is conducted.

Is this available in Spanish?

Yes. Full mock interviews can be conducted in Spanish, by someone who actually ran these interviews in Spanish at USCIS. The debrief memo can be delivered in English or Spanish per your preference.

Will the client know the mock is not the real interview?

Yes. The session is conducted with full transparency about its purpose. The realism is in the interview style, not in deceiving the client.

What documentation is needed for Nonprofit or Clinic rates?

Nonprofit: IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter, AILA Pro Bono Project membership confirmation, or DOJ BIA accreditation. Clinic: supervising attorney name and contact, plus a letter on university letterhead confirming clinic affiliation.

What case types is this suited for?

Affirmative asylum interviews at USCIS. For removal proceedings before EOIR or other case types, reach out separately to discuss the appropriate service.
