Expert Witness Services
When the case turns on credibility, you need someone who actually made these decisions.
Asylum Officer · Humanitarian Parole Officer · Senior Refugee Officer · 6+ Years USCIS · Bilingual EN/ES
Not an academic. Not a country conditions expert. A former USCIS officer who conducted these interviews, applied these standards, and wrote these decisions — for six years.
I spent six years inside USCIS as an Asylum Officer, Humanitarian Parole Officer, and Senior Refugee Officer. I know how credibility is evaluated, how procedural errors occur, and how adjudicators actually think — because I was one.
Areas of Expertise
Case Types & Topics Covered
Affirmative and defensive asylum applications. Credibility assessment standards, interview procedures, and evidentiary evaluation.
Humanitarian parole applications. Adjudication standards, urgent humanitarian need determinations, and significant public benefit criteria.
Overseas refugee registration and processing. Refugee eligibility determinations, country conditions analysis, and adjudication standards.
Derivative refugee and asylee petitions. Adjudication procedures, relationship verification, and eligibility standards.
How USCIS asylum officers are trained to evaluate credibility, internal consistency, and corroborating evidence.
Adjudication procedures, policy memoranda, training materials, and how procedural errors or deviations affect outcomes.
Eligibility standards for humanitarian protection, withholding of removal, and Convention Against Torture claims.
A mock asylum interview conducted by a former USCIS Asylum Officer who ran these interviews for three years. Designed to prepare clients for the actual USCIS environment — the questions officers ask, how credibility is probed, what inconsistencies trigger follow-up, and what the room actually feels like. This preparation comes from the inside, not from a textbook. Delivered remotely in English or Spanish.

Common Questions
FAQs
Can you provide testimony remotely?
Yes — telephonic and video testimony is available upon motion. Written declarations are submitted remotely and are accepted in immigration proceedings nationwide.
Do you accept cases outside your state?
Yes. Expert witness declarations in federal immigration proceedings are not limited by geography. BiyteLüm accepts cases from attorneys across the United States.
How quickly can you turn around a declaration?
Standard turnaround is 10–14 business days from receipt of complete case materials and agreed scope. Rush declarations (under 7 business days) are available at a 25% surcharge.
Do you provide services in Spanish?
Yes — bilingual English/Spanish. Both attorney consultations and written documents can be provided in either language.
What case types do you cover?
I-589 asylum applications (affirmative and defensive), I-590 overseas refugee applications, I-131 humanitarian parole applications, I-730 derivative refugee/asylee petitions, and cases involving USCIS adjudication procedures, credibility assessment standards, and humanitarian protection eligibility.
How do I know if my case needs an expert witness?
Start with an attorney consultation. We'll discuss your case, the relevant USCIS adjudication standards, and whether a formal declaration is likely to add value for your specific facts. The consultation fee is advisory only — no declaration is produced unless you decide to proceed.
What does the Asylum Interview Preparation session include?
The session includes a review of your client's case file, a full mock interview conducted in the style of an actual USCIS asylum interview, and a brief written debrief memo for the attorney noting credibility issues that surfaced and areas to address before the real interview. Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes and are conducted remotely via video. Available in English or Spanish. Standard rate is $350 flat. Reduced rates apply for nonprofits and law school clinics.
